We were thinking of you all today and hope so much that the day
went off without a hitch. It looked like the weather was going to hold
up so hope it did. The Guelph faction of Run With Porter went great!
It is a beautiful day here, sunny with 25ish degrees. The morning
started with the 1 m kids dash. I sang Chariots of Fire to Siri as she
crossed the finish line and then the three of us went out for a
beautiful 5 k along the Speed River.
I still think of Porter every day. I listen to parents cry about
how their babies don't sleep etc but I just never think that way with
Siri and that is in large part due to the perspective gained through
Porter's life. I sometimes sincerely wish that I did have the privilege
of taking things for granted; I'm sure it's much easier since this
perspective was learned in such a painful way. But Siri is a very
happy little girl and her mommy always goes to her happily (or at
least willingly) in the middle of the night for milk and cuddles,
soaking up every second with this baby. So thank you Porter.
We love you, we're thinking of you and congratulations on
another very successful Run With Porter!!
Erin, David and Siri, June 2011
From what I hear (and from the glowing comments I have
read on the Run With Porter facebook page) the third annual RWP
was an amazing success yet again! Congratulations to you all! It must
have been so satisfying to see all your hard work and dedication pay
off in the culmination of such a wonderful event and such a great day
overall.
I'm sure Porter was smiling down on everyone yesterday, amazed that so
many people gathered together to celebrate him and eternally
grateful for his family for working so hard to ensure he is never far
from our thoughts and hearts.

Thank you to all of those who make this event possible. This
was my first year attending, but Run with Porter will definitely be an
annual thing from now on. Congratulations on a wonderful day!

With a special small angel smiling down on us this morning, it
couldn't be anything else but an awesome morning! Thank you race
committee and volunteers!!! Super job. Hubby ran the 10k
and I bought copious amounts of lipbalm...great day.....

I just wanted to tell you that I was extremely impressed and
inspired by the RWP 2010! It was my first year participating -
and won't be my last! I am an Event Coordinator myself at the
University of Manitoba and know what it takes to get something like
this off the ground and gain continued support - you seemed to do it
seamlessly! Normally I run in a relay team at the MB Marathon -
however this year I needed a change. Your run offered me a lot more
"bang for my buck" - and I felt like I was supporting a
local, less-known cause that really needs it. I am choosing to support
those programs that aren't just about research - but immediate effects
in the community. I felt appreciated by the breakfast (which was
fabulous by the way!), the morning stretch and the awards. It was nice
to receive a little back.
Thanks for a great event and I look forward to it next year!

We were honored and so proud to be apart of
and share RWP with your families. It is truly so inspiring and
embracing to experience RWP. The energy, enthusiasm,
spirit and love is so evident around everyone, one cannot help but get
“caught up” in it all! My granddaughter was thrilled that
her birthday was announced and that she could share it with RWP on the
same day! She brought her medallion to show at school and
tell her classmates all about it!
The event is so well organized and
professionally done. Thanks to all the efforts and hard work from the
RWP families. Looking forward to the 2011 event!

To the Run with Porter Family,
I felt compelled to share a few of my thoughts and feelings with
you regarding your spectacular event.
First, I would like to sincerely thank you for allowing me to
experience your strength of family and endurance of spirit. For
creating an avenue for Porter touch my life and those of so many
others today.
I feel honored and privileged to say that I was able to
participate and be enriched by the gathering of families, in nature,
to "Run with Porter".
Sincerely,
Andrea Shore, June 2010
Just wanted to send a quick note - to say "Thank you"
for hosting such a wonderful running event last Sunday. It
was the first time I ran the "Run with Porter" - and it
really was great!. Everything was run so well. I was there
for the sunrise yoga which I thought was excellent. The instructor
(and I can't remember his name) was perfect for the occasion.
The organic breakfast was the perfect ending. And... I loved the
T-shirt. What a great "cut" for women. I do a number of runs
and - honestly never wear the T-shirts again .. I loved this one and
how it fit. This one I will definitely wear again! I have told
everyone - next year they need to do this run.. It is a wonderful
cause (a very sad one) but wonderful. If every year is as good as this
one...I can only see this event growing year after year. Thank
you, thank you, thank you!

"Hi, I'm still on a high from doing the 10K run this
morning. It was the first year that me, my daughter
and friends have attended Run With Porter, and it was a BEAUTIFUL
event. Everything about it was wonderful, loved the yoga stretch with
Phil, all the cheering during the race, and just seeing everyone
together sitting on the grass enjoying our breakfast (which was so
good, i'm in love with the cinnamon buns).
I'm very happy to be part of this day. And of course coming in 3rd in
my age category, just about
put me over the moon....I've only started running in February, so I'm
proud of myself...Looking forward to attending next year....
Thank you, thank you so much....

"On the drive into the park, in the mist and rain, a doe and two
fawns crossed the road. I l knew it was going to be an amazing day.
Congratulations on organizing such an awesome celebration of life,
love and nature."

"I just wanted to take the time to thank anyone who was
involved with co-ordinating Run with Porter. Run with Porter reminded
me that life needs to be about celebrating the moments of joy our
loved ones have given us. It was a truly moving and inspirational
moment to see so many people walking and running together, remembering
to enjoy and savour the precious moments of life that we usually tend
to ignore in our busy lives. Thank you to Porter whose loving spirit
surrounded those at the walk and continues to surround his family.
Thank you so very much for letting me be a part of this walk. I
know that it brings hope to those who have ever shared the pain of
losing someone they love far too soon. You've taken a moment usually
looked upon as tragic and hopeless and allowed hope to triumph. This
takes so much courage. Thank you, thank you, thank you, from everyone
you've helped today."
- Meagan Ballantine-Dickson, August 2009
"I simply cannot say enough good things about this event. Not
only was this an extremely worthwhile cause, for a very worthwhile
reason, it was also an extremely well organized run. The only thing
that I would have changed about this event, was the pouring rain, but
even then, it kept the mosquitoes off of me while I was running! I was
initially attracted to this run due to the pre-run yoga stretch and
the promise of cinnamon rolls. However, I will definitely be back next
year for more than that!
First of all, the signage was really really good. I had
absolutely no problem finding the run site (which I was a little
concerned about) and the signs were terrific along the run, to tell
how close you were to the finish line. I was extremely impressed with
the first aid presence along the entire route. Especially with me
being a first time road runner, I was so grateful for all of the
volunteers who stood along the road (in the pouring rain!) and cheered
me on.
The food was soooo much more than I was expecting and was
wonderful. I was very glad about the attention taken to keep the whole
event as eco-friendly as possible, even down to the water glasses made
of corn.
The yoga stretch was also a first for me. Suze was wonderful
& certainly did her best to keep us smiling while we were getting
soaked. Finally, I am also very grateful for the porti-potties at the
race site. They were so much cleaner and nicer than the bathrooms at
the park (speaking from experience).
Finally, I want to say thank you so very very much to all of the
organizers for making this such a wonderful experience. I also really
want to say thank you to the Francis & Lehmann families for
sharing such a tremendous event with all of us. Thank you especially
to Tannis, for being willing to open up your heart & share such a
tremendously personal experience with all of us. Words cannot express
how wonderful and special it made all of us feel to be a part of such
a momentous event."
Thank you again,
- Danielle Herie, August 2009
"Thank you so much for such an amazing event! The volunteers were
terrific, everyone was extremely helpful, the event was very well
organized - well done!! I was impressed that this was the first year -
from my perspective everything ran so smoothly, despite the wet
weather!! Everyone involved offered their best!! And it showed!!
The energy of the participants was fantastic - such a loving,
open hearted, generous group!! The weather failed to dampen the open
hearted celebration of Porter and the day!! Every moment was an
inspiration - I was touched and truly honoured to be included."
- Sue Williams of SooZe Yoga, August 2009
"How did Porter know that I've always wanted to run in the rain?
I've never had the guts to do so, but this seemingly dreary day
provided a great opportunity for me to do something for the first
time. It was exhilarating :)
The day was very well organized, and it was wonderful to see so
many dedicated volunteers helping out with the event.
The yoga stretch was awesome, and the refreshment table was
placed perfectly along the 5K track. Oh, and those flax cookies were
amazing. Yummm ^_^"
