Because of our commitment to the elements of both children/youth with nature and their environment, the Run with Porter Seedling Foundation has been formed to support Manitoban initiatives that champion the same.

Run with Porter 2012 is presently seeking a Manitoban charity/initiative to support with its fundraising efforts, such as assisting a school group seeking funds to improve a play structure, or a youth group in need of donations to complete an outdoor greening project.

The third annual Run with Porter family fun run/walk at Birds Hill Park in June 2011 was a great success, bringing together approximately 750 community members to celebrate life, love, and nature.  We were able to fulfill our goal of $10,000 for the JMC Community Garden, Pathways, & Natural Play Space and $10,000 for the Donwood School Community Greening Project.   The 2010 Seedling Foundation beneficiary, Winnipeg Harvest’s Blue Bin Gardens program received $8000.  Additionally, we were able to make donations to the Winnipeg Chapter of Compassionate Friends, a support group for bereaved parents, and finance the 2011 Run with Porter Seedling Foundation Scholarship.  In our inaugural year, the Manitoba Sunshine Fund was the beneficiary receiving $10,000.  We hope to generate the same support for this year’s chosen charity.

Please read the Seedling Foundation Guidelines to determine if your charity is suitable for submission of a grant application.

Our main goal is that in ten plus years we can look back at the many projects the Run with Porter Seedling Foundation supported and know that the sweet spirit of Porter Francis grows strong.
