The
4th annual Run with Porter 2012
is an eco-friendly nature walk and 5km /10 km run set for June 3rd in beautiful
Birds Hill Park. Beginning with a sunrise yoga, kids 100-meter
dash, and ending with a delicious organic breakfast, RWP encourages
others to gather together in nature while also protecting it.
Our son, Porter Francis, who bravely battled a rare
immunodeficiency disease,
taught us all the importance of celebrating
love, life, and nature.
Although only a baby when he passed, his
spirit created a strong sense of community that has been shared among
the many participants over the past three years.
The
Run with Porter Seedling Foundation was formed to create a
fund to
honour the love
of our boy and support Manitoba charities that combine
the elements of
children/;youth with nature and the environment.
Congratulations
to this year's recipient
Ecole
John Henderson Junior High School
as
they begin development on The Porter Francis Outdoor Classroom which
will encourage students and the surrounding community to find
inspiration amidst nature.
